SASKTEL INTERNATIONAL AWARDED PROJECT IN RURAL INDIA

November 22 2002

Regina, November 22, 2002 - SaskTel International has been awarded a contract by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to develop a telecommunications project in rural India. In partnership with IBM Business Consulting Services – Canada, SaskTel International will design and implement a model for the delivery of information and communications technologies to a group of small villages in Madhya Pradesh state in central India.

"SaskTel International continues to be recognized around the world for the quality of its work and the expertise of Saskatchewan employees," said Maynard Sonntag, Minister of Crown Investments Corporation. "Through contracts such as this one in India, SaskTel International is bringing revenue back home to benefit the people of the province."

The project is valued at $6.9 million and is scheduled to be completed in two phases by mid-2004. Approximately 65 per cent of the work on the project will take place in India. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the government-owned national telecom operator in India, will assist on the project.

"This project will allow the residents of these villages to experience the same basic telecommunications services that we have enjoyed for years in Saskatchewan, "said Garry Simons, President of SaskTel International. "The goal is to produce a sustainable model that will help improve living conditions for people in rural India."

SaskTel International provides engineering consulting, project management, and software solutions around the world. Since 1986, it has generated $448 million in revenue with a net income of $149 million through its three lines of business - software solutions, project management and investments. SaskTel International is a wholly owned subsidiary of SaskTel, the leading full service communications company in Saskatchewan, offering complete wireline, wireless, Internet and e-business solutions over a state-of-the-art, digital network.

SaskTel International’s diversification initiatives provide the new revenues required to continue the delivery of high speed internet, digital cellular and other vital services across the province of Saskatchewan. The web site for SaskTel International is www.sasktelinternational.com.
