SaskTel International Awarded Another Project in TanzaniaFebruary 10 1999
Dale Bassen, President of SaskTel International, today announced SaskTel International has been awarded a $1.0 million contract with the Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) to provide telecommunications services to an additional three towns in the Kagera Region of Tanzania. "The towns are in the same area of Tanzania where we are currently working on a project with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)," said Bassen. "The TTCL approached SaskTel International to provide the same level of service to these three towns as we are to areas included in the CIDA project, and we are pleased to do so." In September 1998, CIDA announced it was contributing $6.2 million to support an initiative by SaskTel International to revamp rural telecommunications services and infrastructure in northwestern Tanzania. Under this two-year project, SaskTel International is building a complete telecommunications network to serve several communities in the Kagera region. "The work SaskTel International will be completing in the project announced today is similar to the CIDA project in that we will be designing and building a telecommunications network consisting of digital microwave radio equipment, towers, outside plant and buildings to house the facilities," said Bassen. SaskTel International (SI) is the global arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of SaskTel. SaskTel International has been delivering turnkey network integration solutions, advanced network management and interactive services to customers around the world since 1986. Back |
