Description of Project:
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) agreed to provide funding to the Tanzanian Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) and enter into an agreement with a successful tender for the supply, design, engineering and construction of a telecommunications network in the Kagera Region of Tanzania. This contract included design, fabrication, supply, factory testing of equipment, transportation to sites, installation and construction (at different sites), spare parts, testing and commissioning and training of local staff.
Description of Services:
SaskTel International was awarded the contract by CIDA to design and construct a rural telecommunications network for the Kagera Region of Tanzania. SaskTel proposed a point to multi-point solution for the Region to serve 12 communities (plus 6 repeater sites) in the region along with outside plant distribution networks in each community. The project provided approximately 1500 access lines in the Kagera region. The project involved TDMA radio network, capacity planning and design, procurement logistics and transportation.
On the job knowledge transfer in Tanzania was also performed as part of this project.
