Doug Burnett

Doug's Bio
In January of 2003, Doug Burnett was appointed SaskTel’s Vice-President of Human Resources and Industrial Relations. In 2005, his duties were expanded to include Corporate Affairs. In April 2006, Doug also became President of SaskTel International and, in October 2006, he further assumed responsibility for the Corporate Services department. Doug is also the Executive Sponsor for the Saskatoon Squareinvestment.
In his current role, Doug is accountable for all facets of SaskTel’s: Industrial Relations; Human Resources; Health, Safety, and Environment; Diversity; Corporate Affairs; Community Relations, Corporate Services, as well as for all facets of SaskTel International.
Doug began his career at SaskTel in 1990 as Corporate Counsel providing legal advice and services to the corporation in every facet of business. During this time, he worked on several international projects as well as providing advice to Human Resources & Industrial Relations.
Prior to joining SaskTel, Doug practiced law in
Regina from 1983 to 1989.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the
University of
Regina , a Bachelor of Law from the
University of
Saskatchewan , and a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. He is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Doug serves as a board member for the Wicihitowin Foundation, SecurTek Monitoring Solutions Inc., SaskTel International Inc., DirectWest, Hospitality Network and INROADS, Inc.. As well, he is a member of the Conference Board of Canada's Human Resource Executives Council (West) and the National Industrial Relations Executive Council.
Mr. Burnett was born and raised in
Regina . He is active in his community and supports a variety of activities involving his two children, Jessica and Alexander. He enjoys sports of any kind, particularly water and snow skiing, and enjoys coaching alpine ski racing.
